Hollywood Beach

Hollywood Beach, between the duo of Ft. Lauderdale in the north and Miami in the south, is bound by the Intracoastal Waterway to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The community first came into being as Hollywood-by-the-Sea, founded in the 1920s, by a Californian as a Tinsel town dream of seven miles of white, sandy beaches gleaming in the sun. The entrepreneur, Joseph W. Young, was the Californian who carved this community out of the woody flatlands. He gave it the name and helped to develop a character that is part starlet brashness, part nouveau riche. Eventually, it became a tourist mecca complete with gambling halls, wine, women and song. Hollywood Beach tries to live up to its name. There is a Hollywood Boulevard and movie nights.

This "Diamond of the Gold Coast" offer vacationers the chance to return to a fun place with water sports, snorkeling, biking, strolling, running, jogging and roller blading. You can ire a charter for off-coast fishing or hang around on the beach watching people tan and flex their muscles as you walk along people watching. People watching is a common practice if you are walking along the three-mile long, two-road lane wide (27 –feet) Broadwalk.

The Broadwalk is not a misspelling of Boardwalk. Unlike a boardwalk, the Broadwalk in Hollywood Beach, Florida, is not made of wooden planks. The builders constructed the Broadwalk by laying asphalt over the coral rock foundation. It is a perfect setting for shopping, dining, clubbing and unusual festivals. Arrive in time to take part in the Fat-Tuesday Festival, the yearly Red, White and Bluegrass Festival or the bimonthly Broadway Friday Fest.

A Hollywood Beach hotel can be an experience. Stay at the site of the former 1950s hotel now the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. This is a 39-story structure featuring a 60-foot lobby atrium ceiling and a Hollywood Beach tower or, rather a dual tower system. Other possible Hollywood Beach, Florida vacation rentals comprise the Hollywood Beach Marriott, the three-story building, Seadowns, smack dab on the Broadwalk, the stylish 1940s two-story inn, the Manta Ray Inn, and the late 1950s era modernized resort the Driftwood on the Ocean.

Hollywood Beach vacation rentals can also include any number of condominiums. Hollywood Beach condominiums include condos at Winwood Sea and possibly the Diplomat Ocean Front Residence.
