The community of Dania started life in the 1880s when the railroad line ran through the area. Enter a developer. W. C. Valentine. His plans were grand – to build a community - Modello. As a result, between 1898 and 1904 several Danish families moved from Chicago and Wisconsin to settle there. A. C. Frost constructed the first home the first general store (1902) and donated the first schools in the town. A park now bears his name in honor of his many contributions.
Dania Beach, Florida became incorporated as a town in November 1904 under the name of Dania. The community continued to thrive in the early 1900s despite a major fire (1925), a bank failure (1925) and a hurricane (1926). For a while, between 1910 and the early 1940s, the city became "The Tomato Capital of the World,” celebrating the event for the first time in 1927. When this crop ceased to be viable, Dania became, in 1945, the “Antique Capital of the South.” Today, there are still hundreds of antique shops in the town on historic Antique Row.

You can also ride an old-fashioned roller coaster or wander through the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum. When in doubt, walk or fish off the 920-foot Dania Beach Pier.
