Apollo Beach

Apollo Beach is the quieter side or, at least less crowded side of the eastern shore of the Bay. It is not as celebrated nor its beaches and activities worshipped as those of its grander cousins, nearby Tampa or St. Petersburg. It is no wonder a common question is “Where is Apollo Beach in Florida?” Apollo Beach, Florida, is part of the Gulf or Central West Coast of Florida. It sits almost diagonally across from St. Petersburg and is about 20 minutes, more or less, from downtown Tampa. With such vibrant and lively neighbors, Apollo Beach is frequently left standing in their shadows.

Apollo Beach, Fl., has all the amenities of the larger communities. It is not strictly a resort community. According to the latest census, more people own than rent. It has the Apollo Beach Elementary School as well as shops, grocery stores, and a wide variety of services. The actual beach, however, has only the rudimentary basics – restrooms and a visitor’s center.

The beach is nothing to sneer at pityingly. It is easily accessible by walking over the huge dunes and down to the water. The sand stretches in a long strip, its fine quartz grains glittering in the sunlight. There is excellent swimming, great surfing and all kinds of fishing. The most common types are surf and pier fishing.

Apollo Beach, once a small sleepy community, has grown in leaps and bounds since the 1970s. In 2000, there were more than 6,000 people living there. Development in Apollo Beach is slowly increasing the population density. A standard example of such rapid and specifically stylized growth is characteristically revealed in the latest gated-communities.

Among these new homes in Apollo Beach Mira Bay is a large coastal village. This gated community provides its owners and renters with a clubhouse, tennis facilities, fitness rooms, boating, fishing and a pool pavilion. Mira Bay offers single-family homes, townhouses and custom homes. It is only 20 minutes from downtown Tampa and is convenient to St. Petersburg.

Mira Bay is not alone in developing Apollo Beach vacation rentals and permanent homes. Southshore Falls has paired villas, single-family homes and garden villas.
There are also Cornerstone homes and various other small companies erecting homes and, therefore, directing the future of the community. If growth continues at an unprecedented rate, the Apollo Beach area code, 813, will register with individuals as more than applying to the nearby communities.
